Introducing ADHOCISM, the new album by the Tijs Klaassen Quintet.
Dutch bassist Tijs Klaassen has developed a reputation as one of the Netherlands finest musicians as a member of groups led by a.o. Ben van Gelder, Oene van Geel, Theo Loevendie, Mete Erker and Alistair Payne. His own group is a quintet of close friends who, despite their young age, have been playing together for almost a decade. They feel right at home at the meeting point of jazz, classical music, electronic music and free improvisation.
The group was previously awarded the Keep an Eye the Records award and the Dutch Jazz Competition’s Sena Performance Award. Adhocism is the follow up to their first two critically acclaimed albums Clavius ( 2019) and Nostalgia (2022). Adhocism will be released May 31st 2024 by the Dutch label ZenneZ Records and the Canadian label Elastic Recordings.
Featuring five of the finest young musicians on the European jazz scene: Mo Ver Der Does, Matthias Van Den Brande, Floris Kappeyne, Wouter Kühne, & Tijs Klaassen.
